Jimmy Tong is just a lowly chauffeur for millionaire Clark Devlin, until Devlin has an accident that puts him in the hospital. Tong is sent back to fetch some things for Devlin and unknowingly tries on Devlin's tuxedo and finds that it gives extraordinary powers to anyone that dons the suit. This discovery thrusts Tong into world of international intrigue and espionage and pairs him with an inexperienced partner.
Come on, guys. Those people out there who didn't like this movie, wake up and smell the coffee. why are you guys commenting on the plot and every single detail? that is not what a Jackie Chan movie is about. I grew up in Hong Kong, and I grew up watching Jackie Chan movies, and his movies are never about the plot. It's about him doing his own stunts, his amazing reflexes, his funny expressions etc. when there comes a day when his movies are about the plot than his acting style, come and slap me in the face. but since i'm sure that won't happen for at least a little while, i recommend this movies to all those who haven't seen it yet. It's unlike any Jackie Chan movie you've seen. He is so funny in this movie, and he scores again with a great partner.
I've read numerous negative comments about this movie and its several actors on this blog, and I have to wonder what is going on the lives of these unhappy mental midgets that they did not find this movie thoroughly enjoyable. It is one of Chan's best. Jennifer Hewitt is "DAZZLING" (as are the other gorgeous ladies) on top of hysterical. Jason Isaacs is considerably smooth and not in near enough of the movie. It makes me think that the negative comments were written by people working for the opposition. I AM amazed at the decision to cut the majority of the deleted scenes (I won't spoil it by telling you which). Get the DVD and enjoy the whole event over and over. For my tastes, it will be a default movie… one I will look forward to watching frequently.
The only possible surprise in The Tuxedo would be an extended demonstration of what was once Chan's trademark, the daffily choreographed kineticism forbidden of late by either his own age or the scruples of story editors.
